The Sansui ES-200 loudspeakers were manufactured in Belgium between 1972 and 1977 under the supervision of Sansui Audio Europe N.V.
History and Context
The "ES" Designation: "ES" stands for European Specification (or European Speaker), representing a product lineup specifically engineered and assembled to match European acoustic preferences rather than the Japanese or American domestic markets.
Local Production: Assembling the ES series locally in Belgium through regional European operations allowed Sansui to bypass high import tariffs and reduce distribution costs across Europe.
Design Heritage: While manufactured locally to target the European market, the acoustic and physical design drew heavy inspiration from Sansui's acoustic suspension (AS) series, reflecting close collaboration with their Japanese engineering headquarters.
