The KEF Model 101 Reference speaker, introduced in the late 1970s, was Raymond Cooke’s high-precision answer to the BBC LS3/5A. It packed advanced computer-matched drivers (B110 bass and T27 tweeter) into a tiny 6.7-liter box, evolving in the 1990s into the 101/3 with pioneering Uni-Q coaxial technology.

Design goals: Built as an ultra-compact, high-fidelity reference monitor for tight spaces.
Driver tech: Used a B110 bass/midrange unit and a T27 tweeter derived from KEF's pioneering work.
Computer matching: Each pair was acoustically matched in the factory to within a tight 0.5 dB tolerance of the lab standard.
Protection: Featured an active overload protection circuit called S-Stop to safeguard the small drivers.
