The Dual 1215 is a three-speed, idler-drive automatic record changer manufactured by the German brand Dual between 1969 and 1972.
History and Design Evolution
Release and Positioning: Introduced in 1969, the Dual 1215 sat in the middle of Dual's product lineup, using the basic mechanism of the 1214 family paired with a four-pole motor and a dynamically balanced cast alloy platter.
The Original Tonearm: The earliest version of the 1215 featured a distinctive "girder-style" one-piece tonearm with integrated anti-skate adjustment.
Transition to the 1215S: a later revision became known as the 1215S, featuring an independent anti-skate mechanism capable of separate settings for conical and elliptical styli.
Sales and Availability: Like many Dual chassis from this era, the 1215 was rarely sold as a standalone unit; instead, it was typically bundled into console units or mounted in the Dual CS-20 plinth system. It was succeeded by models like the 1216, which brought minor top-plate and control adjustments to the 1215S layout.
This nice looking unit was fully serviced and technically adjusted. It comes installed with a competent Shure M71 MB-D cartridge, a new AC cable and new signal cable with cinch (tulip) connectors. The cecord changer is fully functional (although its use is not advised, to prevent record wear).
