This is an example of our custom projects. This active subwoofer is based on a passive Philips HTS7200 sub, which was expanded with an Arylic U2Stream Mini plate streamer/amplifier. What this unit essentially enables you to do is stream your music from your phone or PC/Mac (using Bluetooth or Wifi) to the unit, which separates the stream in a bass signal for the sub and a left and right signal for two satellite speakers, which can be of any kind you like: vintage or new. Your streaming music will have a solid (tucked away) bass, but your stereo speakers still can be small and are used less critical for low/mid bass reproduction. The subwoofer is fed with a 220V adapter and 2 speaker terminals connect the L/R speakers with the sub. This can be a practical solution for those who like the looks of a set of small, good looking loudspeakers, but who do not appreciate the presence of bulky hifi equipment in the living space.
