The Bang & Olufsen Beovox P50 is a slim, wall-mountable panel loudspeaker produced between 1975 and 1977. The "P" stood for panel and "50" signified its 50-watt RMS power handling. It was engineered to deliver big-speaker high fidelity in tight spaces, famously pairing with early quadraphonic systems.

Design and Concept

  • Space-Saving Build: Created for homeliness and convenience, letting users hang up to four top-tier units in a room without clutter.
  • Visual Trickery: Utilized a slim wooden core sandwiched by an angled resin front and back, making the cabinet appear much thinner from the side when wall-mounted.
  • Trendsetter: Introduced the slanting, angled front panel aesthetic that later became a signature trait across B&O’s broader speaker lineup.

    Specifications

    • Configuration: 3-way pressure chamber system using dual 12.5cm woofers, an 8cm/9cm mid-range unit, and a 2.5cm dome tweeter.
    • Frequency Response: 40 to 20,000 Hz with under 1% distortion.
    • Power Capacity: 50 watts RMS (80 watts music power).
