The Bang & Olufsen Beovox S45 is one of the most famous and critically acclaimed compact passive loudspeaker families in B&O history. Designed by the iconic Jacob Jensen, the S45 series spanned roughly a decade (1975–1986). It is celebrated in vintage audiophile communities for balancing striking Scandinavian design with exceptional "Phase Link" acoustic engineering.
 
However, the history of the S45 is actually split into three distinct generations across three different "Type" designations, which sound and look vastly different from one another.
 
 
This is the original Beovox S45 (Type 6302) (1976–1977)
The first iteration debuted as a high-fidelity three-way bookshelf speaker.
The Tech: It housed an 20cm woofer, a unique 8cm phase-link midrange driver, and a 2.5cm dome tweeter.
Design & Identification: The cabinet features elegant rosewood wood veneers paired with black fabric grilles. You can easily spot the original Type 6302 by its protruding resin/plastic rear panel and the total absence of metal trim along the back edge of the cabinet.
